Waterbury Hospital Selects RES Software to Streamline Workflows, Drive Clinician Productivity and Improve Patient Care
Philadelphia, PA, October 6, 2011 — RES Software, the proven leader in dynamic desktop solutions, today announced that Waterbury Hospital has implemented RES Workspace Manager to provide a fast, secure and easy-to-manage environment that streamlines day-to-day IT tasks and operations. The implementation enhances clinician productivity by improving upon the current desktop environment at Waterbury Hospital.
Providing optimal patient care is Waterbury Hospital’s top priority. To accomplish this, the 270 nurses on staff rely heavily on always-on access via a combination of applications running on PCs, Citrix® XenApp™ and hosted off-site. While analyzing the current state of the environment, Waterbury Hospital and their system integrator partner, Lanstatus, uncovered interoperability challenges between Internet Explorer 8 settings and a remotely-hosted event reporting system used by nurses. Additionally, the IT department wanted to help clinicians be more productive by enhancing their login capabilities. Working seamlessly with Citrix® XenApp™, RES Workspace Manager accelerates clinicians’ access to their applications, increasing their productivity.
Waterbury Hospital was also in the process of deploying plain paper prescription printing to help doctors be more productive. However, Waterbury’s IT department needed to enable doctors to print a prescription on the correct printer. To overcome this challenge, the IT department uses RES Workspace Manager to control printers, making the process more convenient for doctors.
"Patients are, and always will be, the number one priority for Waterbury Hospital. To this end, we always work to make clinicians more productive and operations simpler. RES Workspace Manager was the most comprehensive and easiest to use solution we could find. We have a lot more value to derive from this tool. The selection of RES Workspace Manager is helping us keep our commitment to our patients and our clinincians,” said George Adamo, Network Engineer at Waterbury Hospital. “With RES Workspace Manager, our IT department now has a solution to manage and control user workspaces across the entire enterprise and beyond.”
“A dynamic desktop environment provides clinicians with on-the-go access that is a necessity in a fast-paced work environment and has a direct impact on patient care,” said Jim Kirby, president of RES Software, Americas. “By implementing RES Workspace Manager, Waterbury Hospital recognizes the value of providing its staff with a faster and more reliable work experience that caters to each user’s specific requirements and settings while also helping the hospital operate more efficiently.”
