DISA Moulds
DISA is the world’s leading supplier of foundry equipment and metal
surface finishing systems. With over 1200 employees in more than 13
locations, efficient desktop management became a serious issue. In the
summer of 2007, DISA started the One Client Project. It was part of
their strategy to build one company. At that time, each location had its
own client solution, so software implementation and change management
was impossible.
In their first global software scan, they found thousands of
different applications within DISA, in many different languages. They
wanted to reduce that to one hundred, all in English. RES Automation
Manager was the key element in achieving that goal. They were able to
scan their PC’s in seconds, producing detailed overviews of all software
installed. Then, they presented all our department managers with their
own list, and asked them to select what they really needed. It turned
out that in some cases they were using up to 10 different software
packages for the same task. Today, they are down to only 110
applications.
The company also decided to redesign its IT strategy thoroughly. They
wanted to manage all software from a central location and build a
global support team with eight members worldwide. Through the use of
RES Workspace Manager and Automation Manager, they accomplished this
goal while also improving daily security. They found out that they were
losing drawings, and Workspace Manager helped prevent that by allowing
DISA to grant or deny access to important materials from a central
location within seconds. The implementation of RES Software has led to a
noticeable reduction in support calls and an increase in overall
productivity and efficiency throughout DISA.
