Eastbourne College

Eastbourne College is a co-educational school in which 310 boarders and 310 day pupils enjoy a full boarding experience in an inspiring and stimulating setting. The computing environment consists of a mixture of terminal Services, thin clients, and multiple OS platforms that are non-compatible.  This melee of different platforms resulted in profile corruption, which causes severe user frustration. This in turn was leading to many helpdesk calls, which caused the college to embark upon a search for a solution. Having attended a London show where RES Software demonstrated RES Workspace Manager, the Eastbourne IT staff immediately recognized it would resolve all of their issues.

After working with RES Software authorized partner, M-Tech Systems, to evaluate Workspace Manager, they found the solution to be extremely intuitive. The biggest benefits to be gained through Eastbourne College’s RES Software deployment has been centralized administration and reduced technician time to visit end point devices, which has virtually been eliminated. The unified, common desktop that a user gets no matter where they log in from or what platform they are using has resulted in very satisfied users.

Eastbourne College is looking at a number of new desktop transformations, namely Windows 7 and VDI.  Trials are taking place currently and when a decision is made, Workspace Manager will most certainly be the solution for the new desktop transformation for the college. The easy comprehensive management provided by RES Software has enabled the college’s users to be much more productive and has significantly reduced cost of ownership of the PC population.
