SNS Bank

SNS Reaal is one of the top five top banks in the Netherlands, and with around 9000 employees it is also one of the Netherlands’ larger bank insurers. Its centralized IT department began constructing their our own ‘workspace,’ using mainly scripts. However it became increasingly difficult to guarantee data security—an absolutely essential prerequisite if they were to be successful. Then RES Software Platinum partner carried out an analysis with SNS into the best approach and advised them to try the RES Workspace Manager.

A test environment was soon set up and positive results were noticed right away. Workspace Manager then replaced the existing ‘workspace,’ bringing SNS numerous cost, security and administration benefits. They were able to save a huge amount on hardware because they were able to make better use of the XenApp servers’ capacity. They can use one server to serve several groups of employees that each have specific requirements.

Previously, they had a separate environment for the intermediaries in order to safeguard information. Now, however, Workspace Manager enables them to compose various workspaces from a single pool of workspace components (data, applications and settings). SNS Bank now has a better sense of security as they are able to set security rules at all levels. This gives them a better grip on the environment and how it is used without the use of scripts or the intervention of consultants.
